Victoria & Albert Jewelry Museum Opens Door to Public
|
Three thousand years might seem a long time to many of us but not for V&A London Museum, who has decided to open its doors for the world to see some of the most exquisite collection in its treasure box come May 24. An awesome display of some 3500 precious items from the museum is set to go on permanent display, telling the tales of historical European jewelry.
The jewels, the oldest of which date back from the 19th century, were once owned by no ordinary folks. The ornate accessories adorned no less than Empress Josephine herself from the 1800’s.

Among the iinteresting items are those designed by Rene Lalique in the 1900’s. History has it that the 16 year old Lalique began his career as an apprentice to a Parisian jeweler before enrolling in a London art school. His pieces were characterized by the fluidity of glass and the subtle glimmer of precious stones - creations often inspired by the beauty of nature.
