What little girl hasn’t grown up with Barbie, her high-end clothing and accessories? Every little girl has gone through a phase where she must have every Barbie shoe, dress and accessory available. And through the years, Barbie’s taste in fashion has evolved with the times. Now, every little girl’s favorite fashionista is going to collaborate with Mango, a rapidly rising star in street fashion.
That the Spanish fashion label has chosen the classic children’s icon instead of your usual super models and celebrities is a bold move, albeit a risky one. The Barbie-Mango collaboration will produce a six-piece collection of t-shirts with “retro” influences. The overall look is described as a fusion of tackiness and edge-true to the tradition of Barbie keeping up with the times in terms of fashion.
The move is a bit risky simply because it’s so uncharacteristic of the company. The whole collaboration is just a tad bland and “bland” can be very bad in the world of fashion. Still, who knows? The risk might pay off.
Make sure to look for the collection in mango Shops this July.
